Barnardo's wins £2 million contract to employ young jobless in its shops

Barnardo’s has won a contract worth almost £2 million from the Department for Work and Pensions to help give 300 18 to 24-year-olds employment in its charity shops throughout the UK during the next 24 months.

UK director of policy and research Julian Walker said: “This is a win-win situation. It means hundreds of young people who are struggling to get jobs as a result of the recession will now find work and training for the future and we will have the benefit of their fresh skills and enthusiasm”.
