Arts Quarter updates survey on recession's impact on cultural organisations

Howard Lake | 5 August 2009 | News

Arts Quarter LLP is running the second stage of its online survey into the impacts of the recession on the cultural and wider not-for-profit sectors. The first stage was launched in January 2009,

Launching this new survey, John Nicholls, managing partner of AQ, said: “Our first report on the impacts of the recession received exceptionally wide distribution and it is important that we repeat this work some six months on, in order to continue to understand the medium to long term impacts that this global recession is having on these two vital communities within the wider UK economy.

“Building on our earlier findings, we now need to be able to form a view as to whether the worst may now have passed or whether the arts and wider charitable communities could continue to face difficult times and indeed over what period. Last time, over 300 organisations participated and so we hope that these and many others will do so again in order to build a truly comprehensive picture.”

This new survey also asks respondents to look forward and reflect on the likely events of 2010, particularly the possible impacts of a General Election on their organisation and sectors at large.

The findings of this Survey will be published free of charge in October.
