Bright One, the volunteer-run communications agency for charities, social enterprises and other not-for-profits, is to work with Junction49, a TimeBank project that enables young people to define and generate their own volunteering opportunities around issues that matter to them.
Bright One will be providing advice on Junction49’s social media strategy, using sites such as Facebook, Myspace, Bebo and Twitter to raise awareness of the opportunities to young people and drive users to the Junction49 site.
Bright One’s volunteers will be using their social media skills to connect with an active online audience and demonstrate the value that social media brings to the voluntary sector.
The partnership was announce during Student Volunteering Week, which is appropriate given that both Junction49 and Bright One work with student volunteers.
Ben Matthews, Founder of Bright One, said: “There are some great ideas being posted by young people onto the site and the support and advice that Junction49 gives people to turn those ideas into reality is invaluable. There is truly great potential to engage with these young people using the platforms and services that they use in their daily lives.”
