Oxfam Ireland income increases
Oxfam Ireland enjoyed a €2 million jump in income last year, taking in €17.1 million in the 12 months to the end of April last.
The figure, which was up from €15.1 million the previous year, includes donations, investment income, grants received by the charity and revenue generated by Oxfam’s network of shops.
Total retail sales at the charity’s network of shops reached €6.7million in the year to April 2008, up 7 per cent on the previous year.
Oxfam Ireland’s four Fair Trade shops also performed well, generating revenues of just over €888,000, up from just under €851,000 a year earlier. The charity took in almost €4.9 million in donations, gifts and corporate sponsorship in the year, a 10 per cent rise on the previous year.
The amount the charity received in legacy donations and gifts in kind also increased, rising to almost €533,000 in the year to April 2008.
Between May 2007 and April 2008, the charity provided almost €6.8 million to overseas charitable projects, up from €5.8 million a year earlier. Oxfam also spent €774,000 on advocacy and campaigns.
