Action Planning announce major donor conference
Fundraising consultancy Action Planning has announced that this year’s ‘Raising funds from the Rich’ conference on major donor fundraising will take place on 8 October at Central Hall in London’s Westminster.
Last year the event attracted 1,200 delegates, making it the largest UK event on major donor fundraising.
This year Action Planning is hoping to encourage more trustees to attend since they, along with the charity Chairs and Chief Executives, can play a key role in opening doors and securing major gifts from wealthy individuals.
Speakers include:
* Michael Hintze, who has built a £250 million fortune from hedge funds, gives generously to a range of causes from theatre to hospitals, schools and churches, and is on a mission to convert the City’s new rich to large scale philanthropy.
* John Studzinski, who headed HSBC Investment Banking and now runs a leading Private Equity firm. John gives large sums to charities and is a skilled fundraiser from other rich indiviuals.
* Lord Robert Gavron, founder of St Ives plc, who appears consistently in the Sunday Times ‘Giving Index’ as one of Britain’s leading donors.
* Andrew Billington, who runs the Jack Petchey Foundation. Jack Petchey has built a property empire worth almost £1 billion and has already given £50 million to charities working with young people. He will be represented by
* Sunday Times Rich List philanthropy expert Alastair McCall, who launched the Sunday Times ‘Giving Index’ to encourage the rich to give more.
* New Philanthropy Capital Chief Executive, Martin Brookes, whose team advises the wealthy on which causes and charities to support.
* Coutts & Co Head of Philanthropy, Mark Evans, who advises wealthy clients on their giving.
* CAF Innovation Director, Gill Nunn, on CAF’s experience of helping high net worth people to give effectively.
There will be an inspiring case study from Human Rights Watch, and presentations from Action Planning’s Robin Thomas, Kerry Rock, and Ken Hoffman.
The event is organised in association with acevo, Coutts & Co, CAF, Third Sector, UK Fundraising and New Philanthropy Capital.
The fee for delegates is £147, which includes VAT, lunch, presentation materials and the networking reception.
