V to match fund youth volunteering projects

Howard Lake | 24 July 2008 | News

The Match Fund from v, the charity that champions youth volunteering in England, offers to match funding that charities can generate for volunteering projects for 16-25 year olds.
“If you can find a private sector funder to fund half of your project, we’ll do the rest”, say v, “doubling the value and impact of your funding”. In their press advert they add “if you can find £50k, we’ll make it £100k”.
Applicants will need to design “exciting new opportunities for 16-25 year old volunteers, which have clear demonstrable community benefits”. There are six new v Match Fund themes to base your application on:
* community cohesion
* environment
* health
* children and young people
* poverty
* human rights
V is particularly keen to learn from organisations’ applications how they plan to engage young people who have never volunteered before, including hard-to-reach and under-represented groups.
The two deadlines for v Match Fund applications are:
* Round 1 – 5pm on Friday 29 August 2008 (for projects starting in January 2009)
* Round 2 – 5pm on Friday 31 October 2008 (for projects starting in March 2009)
