The Phone Room to help handle donations to Sport Relief

Howard Lake | 6 March 2008 | News

Volunteers from The Phone Room in Oxford will be giving up their time to help this year’s Sport Relief by staffing the donation lines and handling the contributions from the public.
Seventy volunteers at The Phone Room will be volunteering throughout the seven-hour TV show on BBC One on 14 March. The telethon will feature sports stars and celebrities challenging themselves to raise funds. This year there will be three days of entertainment and events stretching across the weekend.
Jan Brown, from Comic Relief’s campaign management team said: “Without the help of call centres like The Phone Room, Comic Relief would not be able to help so many vulnerable people living incredibly tough lives both at home in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries. We greatly appreciate the time, enthusiasm and dedication of people in call centres all around the UK in handling the phenomenal amount of calls we take on the night and we would like to say a massive thank you!”
Over £18 million was raised for Sport Relief in 2006.
