Unexpected website addresses

Howard Lake | 17 February 2008 | Blogs

Sometimes you type in a web address and find the most unexpected result.
I’ve just typed in www.charityshops.co.uk expecting perhaps to come up with the Association of Charity Shops. OK, so they are at www.charityshops.org.uk, but the co.uk version takes you somewhere quite unexpected.
Charityshops.co.uk takes you to a Sky.com site where you can choose from “the Sky TV, Sky Talk and Sky Broadband combination that’s right for you.”
Technically the site is an affiliate site for Sky. Nevertheless, it’s a truly odd destination for such a URL.
Anyone come up with a similarly peculiar URL destination? Decent sites only please – I’ve know plenty of charity sector site URLs taken over by sites with indecent content, as you can imagine.
