Hospital Saturday Fund donate £5,000 to Motor Neurone Disease Association

Howard Lake | 24 January 2008 | News

The Hospital Saturday Fund has donated £5,000 the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
The donation was received by Lembit Opik to MP Lembit Opik, President of MDNA, who said: “Every penny of the money given by HSF will be matched by the Government. So, in effect, this is a £10,000 contribution to the search for a cure”.
The Hospital Saturday Fund was founded in 1873 to allow workers to give towards the upkeep of their local hospitals. After the formation of the NHS, the Fund evolved into a health cash plan (HSF health plan), which reimburses contributors up to 100% of costs for everyday healthcare expenses such as optical and dental checks.
HSF health plan is the not-for-profit trading subsidiary of the The Hospital Saturday Fund. It channels surplus funds back into the community via the Hospital Saturday Fund Charitable Trust, which makes donations to a wide range of health-related causes, such as hospitals, hospices and medical charities.
