Simple but effective online donor recognition

Howard Lake | 6 December 2007 | Blogs

Walking With Tigers, a support website for the Tiger Temple in Thailand, has developed a simple but effective method of acknowledging donations online. Donors’ names are listed throughout the website, includingon the front page, and they each link to the donor’s website. To make it fair, the donor who donates the most is listed at the top of the list, with the rest listed in order of size of donation.

With 1,000 people visiting the website each week, on Walking with Tigers “your links will generate clicks back to you as well as higher rating on search engines”. So, donors get to feel good about donating, have their support recognised in public, and get an improvement in their search ranking. Not bad.

Since the site launched it has attracted 60,200 unique visits and raised $3,741.50.
