The Wessex Autistic Society has secured a three year sponsorship deal with Nationwide Building Society to support its Somerley 10 kilometre run, which is now in its seventh year.

The sponsorship will help the charity stage its annual fundraising event for runners of all levels and abilities.

The event, in association with Poole Athletics Club, is held at the private estate of Somerley, owned by Lord Normanton, who donates the use of his estate for the charity run. The 10k run is a two lap race which takes place this year on 30 December.

Michelle Leighton, community and environmental manager for Nationwide, said: “This is a great community fundraising event which will give people an energising boost after the indulgence of Christmas. We would like to encourage local people to lend their support to a great cause and we wish good luck to everyone taking part.”

The partnership has developed from the support that the the charity previously received from Portman, which merged with Nationwide this year.
