A new group of young fundraisers has been set up to ensure that younger people from all over the world have their views and needs represented at future International Fundraising Congresses, as well as identify and encourage new speakers to address the event.

The group met for the first time at the International Fundraising Congress (IFC) in Holland last month, and will formally feed into the IFC board through board members Ruth Ruderham, head of supporter development at Friends of the Earth, and John Duschinsky, director at French agency Ressources Non-Profit.

Ruderham explained: “We have been tasked with finding out what younger fundraiser want to see and hear at the IFC and who we want to deliver it. Our aim will be to uncover a diverse range of speakers who aren’t on every other circuit and I am sure we will have no problem because there is a huge wealth of talent waiting to be tapped.”

The group has an official role following new IFC chair Tim Hunter’s formalisation of the existing structure of each board member so that they now have responsibility for views of a specific stakeholder group.

The 28th International Fundraising Congress will be held at Leeuwenhorst in the Netherlands from 14-17 October 2008.
