Celebrity Fearne Cotton is to act as official ambassador of the 2008 24 Hour Famine campaign by international relief and development agency World Vision.

The event, which takes place between 14 and 16 March 2008, is moving into its 22nd year. World Vision say that it is “the UK’s biggest youth fundraising event”. The 2008 campaign encourages young people across the UK to be sponsored to go without something important to them for one day.

Cotton explained that she had been sponsoring a child through World Vision for a few years so was aware of the impact that the charity had.
