Farewell Play Monday

Howard Lake | 21 November 2007 | Blogs

Play Monday, the lottery launched in May 2006 by Chariot (UK) plc with the aim of raising up to £150 million each year for its registered charity partners closed for business yesterday. It was rescued in June 2007 by NetPlay TV after falling sales, but despite investing £200,000 in marketing, the new owner could not make it work effectively.
The lottery raised over £2 million for charities, and a further £200,000 after it was taken over by NetPlay TV.
The failure of this charity-focused lottery is a sad day for the sector, not least because there is no sign of anyone planning to set up anything similar.
