Developer donates apartment to charity

One of Ireland’s leading property developers has donated a Dublin apartment worth ‚€2.75 million to charity. The donation will be divided between two South African charities building houses and providing education for disadvantaged people.

Developer Sean Dunne, who has volunteered in a house building project in South Africa, said he made the donation after realising how far the money would go towards fighting poverty in the country. The donation will support the Niall Mellon Township Trust and the Mandela Rhodes Foundation.

The apartment is in one of Dublin’s most exclusive areas at Brighton Road. Mr Dunne said he would let the Mellon Trust decide how to dispose of the property. The Trust brings hundreds of volunteers to South Africa each year to build low cost housing around Cape Town.
