Peter Wanless to be next CEO of the Big Lottery Fund

Howard Lake | 13 November 2007 | News

Peter Wanless will take over as Chief Executive of The Big Lottery Fund when Stephen Dunmore steps down from the position at the end of January 2008. The Fund distributes half of all National Lottery good cause funding across the UK, £630 million each year.

Wanless joins the Fund from the Department for Children, Schools and Families where he led the creation of a new Families Group. Before that he was Director of School Performance and Reform.

Commenting on his appointment, Wanless said: “BIG is a hugely important organisation with the ability to transform communities and the lives of people in need, often in the most imaginative ways that directly involve the people themselves. The chance to work with third sector organisations to develop targeted solutions to local problems is of particular interest to me.”
