The Royal Mail won one category at the National Payroll Giving Awards in London last night (17 October) and achieved highly commended in two more.

The Royal Mail won one category at the National Payroll Giving Awards in London last night (17 October) and achieved highly commended in two more.

The company won the Best Relaunch of an Existing Campaign award for its campaign that was relaunched in January 2006 and has raised more than £700,000. The judges said it had clear objectives and with a large, dispersed workforce had been effective in bringing this together and integrating the scheme well with other forms of employee fundraising.

Best Overall Campaign was won by Pertempt People Development which achieved a high participation rate of 66 per cent of its workforce with very high donations per employee to a wide range of charities. Judges noted that payroll giving has become part of the culture of the company and is promoted as fully as possible within the group.

The Best New Scheme award went to Haymarket Media Group who, with Workplace Giving UK managed to get a 28% sign up from its workforce of 1,200.

Other winners included Ecclesiastical Insurance Gorup, Marshalls plc and Home Retail Group.

This is the first year of the awards which have been introduced in the 20th year of payroll giving to recognise and reward employers with successful schemes and demonstrate best practice in their promotion to employees.
