Guide for funders in assessing capacity of grant recipients

Howard Lake | 25 September 2007 | News

The Association of Charitable Foundations (ACF) together with The UK Workforce Hub and Governance Hub have produced a new publication to help funders assess the organisational capacity of charities and voluntary groups.

“Is it seaworthy? Assessing and funding the capacity of voluntary and community organisations” details some “quick and easy steps” that funders can take to make sure that their grants are invested wisely in organisations that can use them effectively in delivering services or projects.

The guide also emphasises the importance of funding governance, planning and human resources. Without adequate funding, these areas of charity management could hinder or restrict the effectiveness of the grant.
