SCVO launch campaign to recruit more trustees

The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) has launched a new section to its website called Be A Trustee to try to recruit more trustees to Scotland’s charities.

Supported by law firm MacRoberts, the campaign’s website provides would-be trustees with the information and advice they need to know about this essential governance role, and how they can find voluntary organisations that need their help. SCVO points out that volunteers with legal and accountancy skills are particularly welcome.

The umbrella body for the community and voluntary sector in Scotland says that there are 45,000 voluntary organisations in Scotland, involving 130,000 paid staff and more than 1.2 million volunteers.

Andrew Jackson, Policy Manager at SCVO, said: “Trustees are the head and the heart of voluntary organisations. From dealing with legal requirements like charity law, to fundraising, to helping deliver services, being a trustee is one of the most exciting volunteering opportunities out there. We are very grateful for MacRoberts’ support and look forward to welcoming an increased number of trustees into the charity fold.”
