NICVA to conduct giving research

Howard Lake | 17 September 2007 | News

The Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action, the umbrella group for voluntary organisations in Northern Ireland, is updating its research into charitable giving. This is a follow up to ‘Is it worth more than small change,’ an 2005 examination of overall patterns of charitable giving in Northern Ireland.

The research is part of the wider look at the voluntary sector — NICVA’s State of the Sector research programme. The State of the Sector work has become the benchmark for measuring many key indicators in the voluntary sector. The research will include a survey of 1,000 members of the general public in November 2007.

NICVA are currently establishing a working group that will help guide the research and to provide an insight from the perspective of professional fundraisers and organisations which are especially dependent upon the general public for income. NICVA has been inviting input from organisations to help inform the reserach work.
