New Honorary President at The British Home

Lord Ian McColl, surgeon and disability sector authority, is the new Honorary President of nursing care charity The British Home.

Professor The Lord Ian McColl of Dulwich will preside over the charity, founded in 1861 and based in Streatham, south London, as it establishes its future role in providing social care and services to people with long term life limiting medical conditions.

Lord McColl is Shadow Minister for Health in the House of Lords and was Parliamentary Private Secretary to former Prime Minister John Major. He has a long-standing involvement with disability and the charity sector. He was made a Life Peer in 1989 for his work with disabled people and is well known for his current work with Mercy Ships providing acute medical and surgical care to people in West Africa.
