CTT adds Symantec software to product donation program

Charity Technology Trust (CTT) has added a product donation program from Symantec to its CTXchange initiative. This program distributes Symantec software, such as Norton, donations to the UK charity sector in partnership with the US not-for-profit technology capacity building organisation TechSoup.
Through the pilot program, qualified UK-based charities can request a wide range of Symantec desktop product donations for a small administrative fee. Symantec’s Norton products are being offered through this program, including Norton AntiVirus, Norton Internet Security, and Norton SystemWorks.
Although there is no charge for the software itself, charities will be required to pay an administrative fee to cover the costs of the program, which is a small percentage of typical retail price + VAT.

Charities will work directly with CTT to review and request the software they need. They will also have access to a wide array of technology planning resources through CTT that provide specific ./guidance on choosing, implementing, and using the Symantec product donations.
Lora Phillips, manager of community relations and corporate philanthropy at Symantec, said: “Together with TechSoup and CTT, Symantec hopes to enable small nonprofits to procure the technology they need to be confident in a connected world, freeing them to devote more of their resources to executing on their missions.”
CTT will assess applications on behalf of TechSoup, and handle order processing and follow up with charity beneficiaries. In addition to Symantec, CTXchange currently also supports product donations from Cisco Systems, Inc. and Microsoft.
