Daffodil collection highest ever

Howard Lake | 6 August 2007 | News

The Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day collection has broken the previous record by raising ‚€3.8 million. The Daffodil collection takes place every year in March and is the charity’s biggest fundraising event.

The success of the collection depends heavily on direct street sales by up to 6,000 volunteers throughout Ireland. Around 80% of the income comes from street sales. Last year’s sales were affected by heavy rain.

The balance of the income comes from credit card donations and shop and workplace sales. There is also an online facility for the event. The campaign receives significant advertising support from the Bank of Ireland.
