UK Fundraising launches group on Facebook

Howard Lake | 15 July 2007 | News

UK Fundraising now has its own group on Facebook, the popular social networking site. We plan to use the group to seek feedback about how we can improve the site, but we’re also aware it could have other benefits, not least in helping fundraisers connect with each other.

The Facebook group is intended to supplement rather than replace the UK Fundraising Forum, offering fundraisers the chance to communicate with each other, share feedback on the site, and suggest ways in which it can be improved.

Work is already underway on a much-improved version of UK Fundraising so now is your chance to contribute your thoughts and requests.

If you haven’t yet dipped your toes into Facebook and other social networking sites, then do take this opportunity to do so. You can choose how much information you share with other users on the site and/or group, and you can always leave it and remove your details instantly, should you wish.

The group’s forum already has a couple of questions on it, there are some photos and screenshots of UK Fundraising through the ages, and you’re welcome to add your thoughts and comments on “the Wall”, a freeform area for contributions.

To get the most out of the group you will need to join it. There’s no charge to do so of course. Indeed, you need to register on Facebook to get into the site, just to look around.

We’re not the only voluntary sector organisation to set up a Facebook group: ACEVO set one up earlier this month. However, it looks like we’re the first UK voluntary sector trade publication to do so. If we’re wrong, let us know on the group.

See you on Facebook.
