Sir Tom Hunter to open 'Raising funds from the Rich' conference

Howard Lake | 11 July 2007 | News

Billionaire retailer Sir Tom Hunter, one of the biggest donors to UK charities, is to open this year’s ‘Raising funds from the Rich’ conference, to be held at Central Hall Westminster on 9 October. Hunter recently gained international recognition by teaming up with former US President, Bill Clinton, to form the Clinton-Hunter Development Initiative.

This annual conference, organised by Action Planning with ACEVO, UK Fundraising, Coutts & Co, Third Sector and CAF, attracted 750 delegates last year and is believed to be the largest UK event on major donor fundraising. It brings together Britain’s richest donors and leading experts on philanthropy and major donor fundraising. Conference organisers say that one of its aims is to help chief executives and trustees play an effective role in securing big gifts.
