Velvet donates toilet paper to disadvantaged people in Eastern Europe
Toilet paper producer Velvet has teamed up with charity Real Aid to donate their products to disadvantaged children and families in Eastern Europe. Over a million packs of Double Velvet, Quilted Velvet and Triple Velvet have been donated in the past 12 months through the initiative, which aims to prioritise hygiene products in deprived areas.
Real Aid provide relief through donations from the general public and businesses throughout the UK. Donations are shipped to countries such as Albania, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Asia, Moldova, Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria. The charity aims to relieve suffering for people and in particular children who are experiencing sickness, need, hardship or distress.
Michelle Middleton, Procurement Officer at Real Aid said: “We believe that hygiene products are important for quality of life and their donation has made a significant difference to children and families in Eastern Europe.”

Traci Baxter, Brand Manager of Velvet for SCA Hygiene Products UK Ltd, the biggest producer of tissue paper in the UK, said: “By donating products which would otherwise require costly re-working or disposal via landfill SCA is able to make a small contribution to those in need while at the same time benefiting our own environment.”
