Next Modernisation funding to open soon

Howard Lake | 6 June 2007 | News

The Department of Social Development’s next round of Modernisation funding for the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland will be opened during the summer, with the first grant payments to be made early in January 2008.

The objective of the Fund is to support voluntary and community organisations to modernise so as to allow them to become more sustainable and deliver new and better services in an era of change. The original outline of the capital fund suggested funding for improving access; youth facilities provision; partnership and collaboration; cost reduction and income generation; and the development of good relations between and within communities.

There was also a commitment to investing £3million of the funding available to the capital programme on providing or improving youth facilities in disadvantaged areas (Renewing Communities initiative). This investment will be managed across the schemes making up the programme.
