innocent’s work with Age Concern to help older people keep warm in winter has been recognised by Business in the Community (BitC) with the award of a Big Tick for the 2006 Supergran campaign, in the Cause Related Marketing category.
The Big Tick is awarded to companies across the UK who run their business responsibly and have a positive impact in the marketplace, the workplace, the environment or in the community.
Age Concern have been working with innocent for the past three years, encouraging the public to knit little woolly hats that sit on innocent smoothie bottles for four weeks in the run up to Christmas. For each hat sold innocent gives 50p to Age Concern, to help keep older people warm in winter. Last year, 230,000 hats were knitted and £115,000 was donated to Age Concern.
The Supergran promotion has also been shortlisted by the BitC assessment panel to become the 2007 National Example of Excellence for Cause Related Marketing. The winner of this will be announced at the National Gala Dinner in London on 2 July in the presence of BitC’s President, HRH The Prince of Wales and former US Vice-President, Al Gore.
