British Heart Foundation launches £1.5 million appeal
The British Heart Foundation (BHF) has launched its annual Help a Heart campaign to help fund heart research, and is asking the public to help raise £1.5 million.
The campaign has a number of elements designed to engage key audiences. A direct mail campaign to 13,000 groups and individuals will kickstart the appeal. Also, BHF Shops will throughout June be offering two heart ribbons, a plain one for a suggested donation of £1 or a special limited edition version for £2.
A range of corporate partners will be supporting the appeal. Flight and Hotel Reservations (FHR) will donate £2 for every airport hotel and 50p for every car park place booked to the BHF; Barclays Stockbrokers are offering 10p per trade in stocks and shares throughout June; and Barclays Wills will donate £5 per will instruction received in June to the BHF.

Radox has created an exclusive shower range, and George Foreman is offering a discount on grills with an additional 10% being donated to the BHF. The charity will also receive a donation of 5p per special pack of skinless chicken breast from Great British Chicken. MyMovieStream, the online DVD rental service, will donate £5 for every person who enjoys a free trial.
A campaign microsite was launched on 1 May and lists a number of different ways in which people can support the appeal.
At local level individuals, businesses and groups will be invited to get involved by joining one of the many bike rides happening across the country, and a team of collectors will seek cash donations door-to-door.
