RESPECT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE IN STOKE-ON-TRENT
THE CHILDREN’S SAFETY EDUCATION FOUNDATION AND VODAFONE UK TEAM UP
The Children’s Safety Education Foundation (CSEF) has teamed up with Vodafone UK to create an exciting new Citizenship programme for 13 and 14 year olds in Stoke-on-Trent.
Scheduled to start in Spring 2006, the roadshow of drama workshops will be visiting 22 Stoke secondary schools to look at key issues facing young people and promote safety through drama and interactive resources.
The Citizenship programme is based on CSEF’s educational resource ‘RESPECT – Your Life, Your Choice’, which looks at the impact of life choices and provides young people with the knowledge and understanding to prevent them from making uninformed decisions.
The sessions and the resource will help students to understand issues like decision making, self-esteem, changing attitudes and communication. In addition, there is practical ./guidance on staying safe in the form of advice around bullying, Internet safety and the implications of anti-social behaviour.
The team at CSEF are excited about teaming up with Vodafone and lending their expertise in developing educational resources. Says Patrick O’Malley, Head of Corporate Development at CSEF: Reaching young people at this critical age is crucial to help them to become better citizens. This is a very exciting programme and we’re looking forward to working with Vodafone to make a real impact in Stoke.”
