Irishman Ray Murphy, who has died at the age of 54, was a key advisor to the Atlantic Philanthropy’s predecessor in Ireland, Tara, and more recently a senior advisor to one of the largest foundations in the USA, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.

Before joining Mott, Ray worked for seven years as senior consultant for Tara Consultants, with responsibility for grant making in Ireland, Britain, central Europe and Russia. His work led to Atlantic Philanthropies’ huge investment in Irish universities over the years.

He was also involved in the formation of the Irish Tax Reform Group and Clan Credo and was a board member of Philanthropy Ireland.
