Help the Aged launches corporate 'engage' network
Help the Aged has launched ‘engage’, a network that will promote an “age positive approach to business”.
The ‘Securing the Silver Pound’ launch event last week at Clifford Chance Canary Wharf invited corporate organisations to join the new network and strive to promote best practice in engaging the older population as both consumers and employees.
Companies can join the engage network for a donation of £1,000, and then gain access to the charity’s expertise via an exclusive members clinic where they can contact some of the leading figures in the field for advice and information on age-related topics affecting businesses.

Other benefits of being a member include invitations to future briefings and networking events, as well as receiving Help the Aged publications.
Mike Lake, Director General at Help the Aged, told the delegates: “Too often the needs of older people and the huge market that they represent are overlooked when it comes to business. Through engage, and with the support of our founding member British Gas, we’re striving to encourage an age positive approach in all business.
Guest speakers at the event included Hannah Finnis, Corporate Responsibility Manager at British Gas who spoke about reaching the mature market through a partnership approach, and Andrew McMillan, Customer Service Manager at John Lewis who shared expertise on age positive customer service.
The event attracted representatives from organisations including Barclays, HSBC, DSG International, the Co-operative Group, BUPA, Price Waterhouse Coopers and Bank of America.
