Camelot's Dianne Thompson raises £1 million for ChildLine

A fundraising initiative led by Dianne Thompson CBE, Chief Executive of National Lottery operator Camelot Group plc, has raised £1 million for ChildLine, the free 24-hour helpline for children and young people.

Thompson set up the ChildLine Foundation in 2004 with the aim of raising £1 million for ChildLine, a service of the NSPCC, to allow the charity to answer more calls and train more volunteers so that every child who needs help can get help.

Members of the ChildLine Foundation Committee included James Cracknell, double Olympic gold medal-winning rower, Sly Bailey, Chief Executive, Trinity Mirror PLC and Mark Bolland, Media & Marketing Communications Consultant, formerly Deputy Private Secretary to HRH The Prince of Wales. They were joined by other business leaders and National Lottery winners Tom and Rita Naylor, Elaine Thompson and Yvonne Lawrence.

Thompson said: “I am delighted that the ChildLine Foundation has reached its target of raising £1 million for ChildLine and extremely grateful to all those companies and individuals who have supported us, through pledges and a wide range of fundraising initiatives.

“Everyone has risen enthusiastically to the challenge of raising this huge sum, in the knowledge that are supporting such a worthwhile cause.”
