Pinter poetry evening raises nearly £7,000 for Lord Mayor's Appeal
An evening of readings by poet and playwright Harold Pinter, joined by Grey Gowrie and BH Fraser, has raised almost £7,000 for charity.
The evening at the Mansion House in the City of London on 1 March, which was organised as part of the Lord Mayors Appeal, was attended by over 300 guests and was the first in a series of events to raise money for the appeal’s four beneficiary charities – international development charity VSO, Mansion House Scholarship Scheme, The Guild of Educators, and King Edward’s School Witley.
Pinter read a collection of his poems from throughout the years ending the evening with a touching love sonnet to his wife Lady Antonia Fraser.
