Waitrose in Edinburgh’s Morningside has chosen the Royal Blind School at Canaan Lane as the local charity for their fundraising charity week.

The store’s charity week runs from 18-24 February and during this time Waitrose staff will take part in a range of activities to raise funds for the school’s Bridgend Project to grow healthy food together.

“We are delighted that Waitrose has chosen The Royal Blind School for their charity week,” said Helen Forrest, marketing and fundraising manager for Royal Blind, the national charity that provides services for the blind. “I hope it is the start of a blossoming relationship with Waitrose that will grow through the Bridgend Allotment Project.”

Some of the activities that Waitrose has planned for their fundraising venture include a quiz-sheet competition costing £1 per entry, a Silent Auction of donated Christmas gifts and donated goods from local businesses, a homebaking stall, a half-hour sponsored cycle in the foyer, plus a £1 a guess sweepstake on how far staff can cycle.
