Oxfam Ireland’s accounts show that the third world charity raised ‚€13.7 million to the year ended April 2006. While the overall figure is down on the total of ‚€14.4 million for the previous year, Oxfam’s fundraising activities have posted increased figures.

Dr Brian Scott, chief executive of Oxfam Ireland, said it had been a year of continued growth with an increase across all three sources of funding. Government grant aid was down on 2005 but this can be accounted for by the timing of receipts.

Trading income, mostly shops, was ‚€5.8 million while income from donations, gifts and corporate appeals was ‚€4.9 million.
