57-year-old Tony Hodgson from Llantellyd, North West Wales is planning to run the equivalent of ten marathons – 262 miles – to raise funds for Sense, the national deafblind charity. This will get him from his home to the starting line of the Flora London Marathon on 22 April 2007.

Tony will begin his journey for Sense on 11 April 2007. He was moved to fundraise for the charity after hearing how it had helped support a local family whose son had been born blind and deaf.

Tony’s route will take him across Wales to Shropshire, dipping south to Birmingham and joining the Grand Union Canal, which will lead to the Thames and onto London. This will his eighth marathon.

Tony said: “I’m not going to be running flat out every day. There’ll be teashops to visit en route and the odd pint in the evenings I’m sure. However, I’m really going to push myself on marathon day as I currently hold the club marathon record and I don’t want to lose it!”

Tony is aiming to raise £3,500 for Sense by running the marathon, and is hoping his running challenge will attract further support along the way from the public.
