'Better Ireland' marks 5th anniversary

This year the Allied Irish Bank Better Ireland Programme is celebrating its 5th year in operation. Since August 2001 over ‚€13 million has been given out to over 1300 groups throughout the country.

Over ‚€6 million of this has been donated to run the Schoolmate project with Better Ireland partners Barnardos, ISPCC and Focus Ireland. The Better Ireland Programme is committed to tackling the issue of social exclusion at an early stage and focuses its resources into key concerns affecting children in Ireland.

All charitable donations under the AIB Better Ireland Programme address three specific causes:

Drugs and alcohol abuse – effect on children

Lack of Childrens Education through Poverty

Homelessness – Children

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and there is an online application form on the AIB site.
