First non-American chair for CFRE

Howard Lake | 22 December 2006 | News

Certified Fund Raising Executive International (CFRE) has appointed the first non-American to chair its board in its 25-year history.

Andrew Day, group chief executive of UK-based Compton Fundraising Consultants, has been elected chair for 2007.

Day has held his CFRE since 1996, has chaired the marketing and strategic planning committees, been a member of the job analysis committee and written a number of test questions for the CFRE exam. He was the driving force behind bringing the CFRE to the UK in 2004, since when more than 50 of Britain’s most experienced fundraisers have taken the exam.

Day said the year would be a challenge. I think my election as a non-American is a vote of confidence by the Board in the on-going international work of the organisation. I am looking forward to the challenge of working with CFRE’s 18 professional associations, such as the AFC and IDPE in the UK, to further raise professional standards.

CFRE is celebrating its 25th anniversary throughout 2007. It is the only internationally recognised professional credential for fundraising executives, and its growing recognition has provided new opportunities and a competitive edge for 5,000 CFREs worldwide.
