Twelve charities have received support from CAF’s (Charities Aid Foundation) Consultancy and Training Fund, which aims to enable small and medium-sized organisations to strengthen their capacity, improve their long-term stability and make the most effective use of their resources.

One of the recipients was YouthBank UK which received 15 days’ consultancy time to support an organisational review and funding strategy.

Lynne Evans, Chair of YouthBank UK said: “The support from CAF will enable us to put in a place a funding strategy to help us secure the future of YouthBank UK. We hope by bringing in this expertise we can be clearer about our funding priorities and where to look for funding to support more young people becoming involved in YouthBank UK.”

Victoria Anderson, Head of Grantmaking at CAF outlined the aims of the fund: “The Consultancy and Training Fund is part of CAF’s 2006/2007 Grant Programme, which runs from 1 May 2006 to 30 April 2007 and has £1.2 million to give away. The Fund specifically helps charities to become more financially efficient.

“We do this by providing a package of support including low-cost, high-quality consultancy for areas such as business planning, mergers and partnerships and board development, as well as financial and crisis management. This is supported by unrestricted cash support and the financing of training costs in management, finance and fundraising.”

The next deadline for applications to the Consultancy and Training Fund is 2 February 2007. UK charities wishing to submit an application should contact the Grants Team on 01732 520334.
