Axelrod brings major donor programme to UK

Howard Lake | 6 December 2006 | News

Major donor fundraiser Terry Axelrod is bringing her fundraising programme to the UK in the new year for the first time.

Axelrod set up her Benevon 101 workshops 11 years ago in the States, and has since trained fundraisers from more than 2,600 organisations. The model she invented aims to create a long-term sustainable funding stream for organisations through a structured approach, building up contacts with potential donors through point of entry events, cultivation, asking and free feel-good cultivation events.

Axelrod sais that organisations typically raise $200,000 in the first year of implementing the programme, and considerably more in subsequent years. The programme teaches fundraisers how to connect with their donors and brings back passion and mission-focused fundraising.

The two-day course takes place in London on 24 and 25 January and is open to teams of between five and seven. This typically consists of staff, board members and volunteers. Fees are $12,000 which includes the tuition for all members of the team and a year’s follow-up telephone coaching which is customised to each organisation.

There is a free 17-minute video on the company’s website which describes the approach in detail.
