Ireland Funds' giving tops $7 million

The American Ireland Fund has approved 325 grants to 215 projects totaling $7,365,627 for grants year 2006. The Ireland Funds is a worldwide network of people of Irish ancestry and friends of Ireland dedicated to raising funds to support programs of peace and reconciliation, arts and culture, education and community development throughout the island of Ireland.

As of Dec 31, 2005, The American Ireland Fund had approved 430 grants to 279 projects totaling $26,723,290 for grants year 2005.

The Ireland Funds raises money from the Irish community and those of Irish extraction throughout the world, particularly the United States. The Funds recently completed a major ‘Hope and Reason’ appeal to raise $111 million
