LOCAL HOSPICE WALTZES TO SUCCESS WITH ANNUAL FUNDRAISING BALL
15/11/06
St Teresa’s Hospice has received a fundraising boost of more than £10,000, following its tenth annual charity ball.
The glamorous event, which was held recently at the Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield, was attended by more than 300 invited guests from businesses across the North-East.
Centred on the theme of ‘Ten,’ the ball marked the tenth anniversary of the Hospice’s annual fundraising event, and featured guest star cabaret from the world famous comedy duo, Men in Coats.
Guests were also treated to a sumptuous four-course meal and live music from the Dean Solomon Band, who have performed at all ten of the Hospice’s fundraising balls.
The event raised a total of £10,100 for the Hospice, generated through a combination of ticket sales, prize draws and proceeds from the White Rose Fun Casino.
All proceeds from ‘Ten’ will now be used to fund the Hospice’s extensive range of palliative and respite care services, which are provided free of charge to people living with South Durham and North Yorkshire.
Over the years, the St Teresa’s Hospice Annual Charity Ball including the Las Vegas Ball in 1999, the Masquerade Ball in 2003, and this year’s event, Ten, has raised a combined total of more than £112,000 on the charity’s behalf.
St Teresa’s Hospice Director, Jane Bradshaw, said: Many of the guests who attended this year’s event have also been in attendance at previous fundraising balls and I would like to thank them for their continued generosity and loyal support. Events like the charity ball make a huge difference to the Hospice and every penny counts towards helping local people who are coping with a life-limiting illness.
