Dyslexia Action’s fourth annual Dyslexia Awards Dinner, held at the Dorchester Hotel, London, on 7 November, raised £140,000 to help support children and adults with dyslexia across the UK.

The event honoured the achievements of actress Zoe Wanamaker, Olympic athletes Alan and Della Pascoe, and architect Lord Richard Rogers, all of whom are dyslexic.

Zoe Wanamaker, who was presented her award by comedian Jo Brand, said: “I have always suspected that I might be dyslexic but this was not confirmed until I was formally assessed by Dyslexia Action this year. And what a relief, I can tell you! I am very honoured to receive this award and I hope I can be of some inspiration to young people struggling with dyslexia.”

Alan and Della Pascoe and Lord Rogers were presented with their awards by The Rt Hon David Blunkett, who is a long term supporter of the work of Dyslexia Action.

The entertainment on the night was provided by Four Poofs and a Piano and the comedian Jo Brand.

Author and President of Dyslexia Action, Ken Follett, was Master of Ceremonies.

The funds raised on the night were raised through a main auction, silent auction and raffle. Lots such as an exclusive holiday on Richard Branson’s Necker Island went for £18,000, a diamond necklace for £12,000 and a sky diving experience with the Red Devils for £7,500.
