The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) has appointed Ben Kernighan as its Deputy Chief Executive, a new position. Kernighan was previously the organisation’s Director of Services and Development.

Kernighan, who has been with NCVO for eight years, will deputise for NCVO’s Chief Executive, Stuart Etherington, as well as heading up the Services and Development Department.

The new position was created following NCVO’s expansion of services and membership, which is now over 4,800 organisations.

Ben Kernighan said: “As membership of the organisation continues to grow, I will be working with Stuart on NCVO’s long term strategy, ensuring that we continue to provide the support and answers to the sector’s burning questions.”

Kernighan also worked at The Terrence Higgins Trust as Communications Manager, Fundraising Manager and managed its volunteer services. He is a trustee of the Basic Skills Agency and a Director of Futurebuilders England.
