The Prostate Cancer Charity makes an impact with annual review

The Prostate Cancer Charity has published an annual review which represents a bold departure from the traditional charity annual report.
Burnett Works conceived, wrote and designed the review. Adopting a loose-leaf A3 format, it features specially commissioned photography by Eamonn McCabe, punchy graphics and confident, direct copy. The coverline asks the direct question ‘Are we really effective?’ – and the Charity goes on to answer the question throughout the document.
The overall design links visually to The Prostate Cancer Charity’s Real Man campaign* in order to build on growing awareness of the organisation amongst the public. The key audiences for the review include existing and potential funders, such as charitable trusts and corporates, as well as individual donors, fundraising groups and the media.
Paul Gale, head of design at Burnett Works, commented: The Prostate Cancer Charity is a relatively young charity but one which punches above its weight in terms of the impact the organisation is already having. We wanted to reflect this quality in the design of the review, so we went for strong colour, bold copy and these amazing ‘gritty’ images of some real men with prostate cancer taken by Eamonn McCabe.”
John Neate, chief executive of The Prostate Cancer Charity, said: We were keen to break new ground in the production of our latest annual review. We hope that readers will find this new style engaging and full of impact. Having made this step, there’s almost certainly no going back”
