Jane Deitch, former Head of Casting at the BBC, joins Theatrecares this month as its first Administrator. Her responsibilities will include events and growing the annual Theatrecares Bucket Collections which raise £100,000 a year to support poor and marginalised people affected by HIV and AIDS.

David Pendlebury, Chairman of Theatrecares, said: “Jane is highly experienced and knowledgeable and her background in the theatre and television will prove invaluable to the development of Theatrecares.

“This is an opportunity for Theatrecares to reengage the theatre community and raise much needed funds to support people affected by HIV and AIDS in the UK and Africa.”

The appointment follows a period of rebranding for Theatrecares. Initially known as West End Cares, since 1990 over £2 million has been raised to support projects ranging from the Crusaid Hardship Fund in the UK to orphanages in South Africa.

The new curtain motif and strap line ‘Putting HIV and AIDS centre stage’ embodies Theatrecares’ role in the HIV and AIDS sector as the theatre community’s response to HIV and AIDS in the UK and Africa.
