Building Society offers hundreds of £50 grants

The Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is invite people to nominate good causes to receive a £50 grant. The organisations can be based anywhere in the UK.

Nominations are open during ‘Make a Difference Week’ runs from 14 – 21 July. Existing customers and members of the public are invited to call into any of the Society’s 131 branches and 75 agencies to recommend a charity to receive a £50 grant.

The Charitable Foundation was founded in 1999 and has since donated more than £2.1 million to over 3,600 charities. It receives most of its funds through the Society’s Small Change Big Difference scheme where members donate the pennies from the interest they receive on their accounts.

Louise Neill of the Foundation said: “We receive applications and make donations throughout the year to hundreds of charities. However we hold our annual Summer event so that we can be sure we have the chance to help smaller, local charities that are often overlooked by large organisations but are important to the communities where our staff and members live and work.”

The public can find their nearest Yorkshire Building Society branch or agency at the Society’s website.
