Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust has appointed David Hillyard as development director to raise more revenue for its international conservation work.

The new position has been created to generate additional revenue to support the organisation’s conservation work in 18 countries in addition to the ongoing work at its Jersey site.

David joins Durrell from the Earthwatch Institute, which also supports Durrell’s work in Madagascar, where he was director of programme development.

David explained what he would focus on in the new post: “As well as continuing the more traditional fundraising activities, I will be identifying and developing the mutual benefits to be gained from working in partnership with companies and other institutions.

“My focus will be on raising revenue more effectively, to begin with in the UK. However, the organisation’s work attracts support from all around the world so, once the programme is established here, I hope to turn my attention to other countries, probably starting with the USA.”
