Open source calendar for trust applications?

One of the joys about publishing UK Fundraising is that one gets to see lots of initiative but also to spot some of the gaps. One such gap is a tool for trust fundraisers to stay up to date and ensure their grant applications are sent in before grant deadlines.
So, how about collaborating on an open source grant deadline database? Trust fundraisers contribute details from their own experience about application deadlines from the funders they deal with, building up a valuable sector wide resource. (Then we can’t be accused of stealing copyright information from the publishers of grantmaking directories).
An aside on that – why haven’t the trust directory publishers not created an online tool for deadlines which emails deadlines to subscribers, or publishes them in RSS? Trust fundraisers could choose how much in advance they’d like a particular alert.
If you like this idea, let me know. It could be part of UK Fundraising, or a separate project. And if someone else runs with this, don’t forget where you read about it first.
